Services That Are Products

opentaps provides a few special application features that support the use of Services which are Products. These are described in the following list of items concerned with definition, sale, delivery, invoicing, and outsourcing of Services which are Products:

• Catalog Manager -- Product Type = "Service" can be selected from the drop down menu when defining a Product which is a service. Refer to [Catalog] Icon > Product Page > [Product] Tab, "Product Type" drop down menu.

• Order Status -- When a Service type product is ordered, and the status is reviewed, there is special treatment of Service type Products. Refer to The Orders Tab#Order Status for Services (Non-Physical Type Products)

• Invoicing for Services -- For a description of handling Invoicing for Services refer to the section Invoicing for Services Performed.

• Outsourcing a Manufacturing Task -- When an outsourced manufacturing task is a service performed as one of the Routing Tasks by a supplier or vendor, opentaps provides for handling of such a task, as explained in the User Manual section, Outsourcing Manufacturing.
